Now don't laugh, but I just bought myself a brand new D850 and I will order this NISI kit before the EOFY sale ends tomorrow. It should go well with my Sigma 24-35 2.0 Art lens. Nice video! Thanks. I am using the BBF from the film days, starting with Nikon F100 and continued with all digital bodies as well. I would like to note one detail in camera configuration that could affect the configuration you showcased. Not sure for G9 - but usually for AF-S and AF-C in camera configuration we can select either FOCUS or RELEASE. Default settings - FOCUS for AF-S (shutter disabled until focus is acquired) and RELEASE for AF-C (shutter enabled even without focus acquired). I like to set both modes to FOCUS - this way the burst in AF-C will not be up to the max, but you can expect more frames in focus. So if in my case I set the AF-C (with mode set to FOCUS) and try it in the way you explain - it will not work, as camera will not fire if focus is not acquired. To solve this - you need to switch back to the RELEASE mode. This is very minor as RELEASE is the default setting for AF-C. But no harm to mention this in case somebody have an issue with that.

Hello Andrew, just one question. I normally take pictures with my G9 but sometimes i record videos. How can i send the videos to my mobile phone? I can only send pictures and i don’t know why. I use Panasonic Image App. 😢

Is it possible to do focus bracketing combined with the high res mode? I am currently using my gh5 to scan rocks.

Simple and to the point, thanks for the concise approach to explaining waterfall shots. Was this with a Full Frame, Crop Sensor, M4/3, 1" or even smaller? A slightly longer video would help those who are using their Smartphones in Pro Mode. There are other settings not mentioned here which is a shame😮

In my previous camera (GX8), I was able to move the focus curser on the screen while I was looking through the view finder. I found it very good to use, but I cannot do that on the G9M2. Can you tell me where the setting for this feature is?

What i dont get is the FIXED number of frames - 20 or 60, why not 30 or 40 or 50? 60 may be too much for me, 30 would have been a fine setting for many cases.

Hi Andrew, I just bought a second-hand G9 and I'm working my way through your helpful videos. It's a super camera - the only thing I am struggling with is the shutter button. Maybe I'm just heavy handed, but I've taken quite a few photos that I had no intention of taking! I might look at back button focus....

Hi Andrew thank you for such informative videos. However I have a question. In BBF when on a tripod how do I set the focus without disturbing the focus. I have the G9 mark 2 .

Question....I've noticed that in pre burst it really increases the iso with the same minimum shutter speed selected compared to shooting in S. Any idea why

Andrew, thank you for the video. Nothing convinces me more but to get the camera than some spectacular photographs. The last photo in particular, just wow! I'm definitely upgrading my Lumix DMC G80 for the G9II, however I'm a little torn if I should upgrade my Leica DG 100-400mm for the new version. How much different is it? The tele-converter option is what got me very interested. To extend that magnificent zoom in the small body factor is nice to have, and I don't have that option at the moment with the current lens. Plus that sticky ring has always been there. Will be interested to see your video on that lens

You didn't talk about shutter speed

This is crazy! I've been using GH6 for about 2 years now for video 90% of the time, and only today I discover it can shoot photos at 100MP. Thanks so much for this tutorial!

Sadly, even with all the settings set, my camera doesn’t START the time lapse function when clicking the shutter.

Hi 👋! I love your videos! I’ve been looking for a camera for landscape and can take great pictures of animals , mainly mine 🐶😁. Was debating between the G9 and the new G9II , After watching your videos , I decided to go ahead and got the G9II . I got a UHS-II v60 card , but I heard some people say that you need aUHS-II v90 instead, what’s the difference between the two? Thank you for your input and help. 🙏

Anything in SH burst reduces dynamic range - this mainly affects recovering shadows. Try it for yourself on a dark subject and you’ll see the difference between SH and H. You’ll see strange artefacts in the shadows of SH images.

Thanks for this Andrew - for back button focus high speed - having pressed both buttons you can remove your thumb from the focus button and the pre still says on the screen. finger gymnastics for some !

Just got back from a few days at RSPB Bempton in the UK, it’s a great cliff top location, famous for Puffins, Gannets, Razorbills and Guillimots amount others. Using this function was a huge improvement on the original G9, every shot was in focus, the hardest thing has been deleting literally hundreds of perfectly in focus birds in flight. Your video shows perfectly how to use it and has reminded me I have a choice over how long the pre burst is set. This G9ii is such an improvement on AFC for moving subjects 👌

Thanks Andrew, great overview. I've been using this feature for a while on my G9m2 and have a couple of comments: Firstly, there can be a significant buffer time when reviewing your photos in camera. Secondly, make sure your field of view is wide enough to capture the fast moving subject. I've missed many shots when the subject has moved quickly out of frame.

Thanks Andrew. I followed your advice from the G9 video and tried out the SH pre burst and also 6K/4K pre burst. In the end I decided I preferred 6K/4K pre burst because then I had a video of the event, e.g. the take-off of a bird, but could also extract single frames. I did try turning the SH frames into videos but didn't find any tools that did that satisfactorily.

Not clear how the folders transfer to my computer and what they look like in the computer. thanks for your always clear and useful videos.
